Has anyone thought that maybe in the last Delena scene it was actually Silas projecting himself as Elena? Once Bonnie died he had to have a plan to come back, but have no one know it. So he revealed himself to Damon as Elena and told him not only what Damon wanted to hear from Elena, but also the one thing that would push Stefan way. This gave Silas the chance to reveal to Stefan that he was his doppelganger and dispose of Stefan. Since no one knows that Stefan and Silas are doppelgangers he can walk around as himself and have no one know it.

When Jeremy died Elena was obviously in so much pain. She could not handle it but imagine the pain she was in after everything she did when her humanity was turned off? She tried to kill 3 of her best friends and hurt innocent people. So it must have been 1000x more painful. She was feeling all that at once. And Stefan was able to calm her down. He did not need a sire bond or anything to do it. All he needed was her to believe that she will get through it. That eventually she will find something worth living for. Just like he has done so many times before. Damon took the easy way out because to him emotions are overrated. He does not know Elena like Stefan does. And this season just keeps proving to us why Stefan will always be the best choice for her.
